So, kind of ironic that a few hours after my last post (done while at work) I checked Candace in to Labor and Delivery. I was just grinning from ear to ear when I saw her. I kept telling her that one of these day's she'd walk up to the woman's center and I'd be there to welcome her. We both laughed that the day had finally arrived.
Taylee struggled a bit in the beginning and required oxygen. It's kinda heart breaking to see this sweet think hooked up to all the wires and tubes.
She's a fighter though. She came off the oxygen in less than 24 hours and stayed in the NICU for a few days for observation. I was lucky to be on the other end of it all. When I'd come to work and get to snuggle with Taylee. All the nurses were jealous and cooed over her gorgeous long dark hair and big beautiful eyes.
Taylee had an IV in her hand at first and then they moved it to her head. When I first started my job in the NICU that was the hardest thing to get used to seeing. Taylee was receiving antibiotics through the IV.
Candace and Jared got to take Taylee home yesterday. I've been working or sleeping since so I had to go see them this evening after work. They were attempting her first bath at home.
Taylee has a low resting heart rate. Especially when she's in a deep deep sleep. Her heart rate slows way down. Candace and Jared decided to take her home with a monitor. When her heart rate drops to 60 it alarms. She has these little leads that attach like a sticker to both sides of her belly and connect to the monitor.
I love this picture because of their pup's reaction to the new addition to the family. She's very protective of Taylee. She watches over her and tries to sooth her every time she cries.
What a happy little family. We're so glad Taylee's home!
